Young Riflemen is a patriotic
youth paramilitary
organization in Lithuania
. There are various local units of this organization throughout the country. It accepts people from 12 to 18 years of age and is a subordinate to Lithuanian Riflemen Union with "Young Riflemen" making about 61% of the whole membership (about 4 thousand) of the union. Historically, the organization used to be more important during the interwar period, when it was almost ten times more numerous, however it was disbanded later under Soviet occupation. Organization organizes various sport activities, provides uniforms to its members, organizes camps, gives theoretical (and practical in some units) knowledge about the usage of weapons, helps disabled people and teaches the military history of Lithuania.
