, but when his company bidded for Kuitan's marble contract, Kuitan's owner asked him to play and teach football at his club in return for granting him their business. He agreed, then played and taught at Kuitan for two years. He has since started his own marble business and mainly work with Sun Hung Kai Properties.

Yu earned HK$20,000 plus per month at Bulova FC, later his salary rose to HK$35,000. He used his salary to buy a flat at City One
