s, then a loss in his eighth fight. Walters pulled it together, though, and strung together ten straight wins before losing again to Hugo Pineda. Walters soldiered on, and after six more consecutive wins, was given a shot at the vacant WBC African Boxing Union Light Heavyweight championship, a minor title. Walters' original announced opponent was Marlon Hayes, but Hayes pulled out and was replaced by Carl Daniels

In so doing, Walters claimed his second minor regional title, the NABA light heavyweight belt. In his most recent bout, Walters lost to tough journeyman Shawn Hammack in a bout that he seemed to be well on his way to winning, getting caught in the final round and stopped with 30 seconds to go.
