He was a multiple national champion, winning the 12 Hour, 50 Mile Team and 100 Mile Team titles in 2003. He also competed in tandem events, and was aiming to ride at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics as a sighted pilot.

He was killed while cycling to work along the A11 road from his home town of Attleborough
