Encyclopedia
Emperor Modi of Later Liang Zhu Youzhen (888–923) was Emperor of China between 913 and 923. He was the third and last emperor of the first of the Five Dynasties - the Later Liang Dynasty
and the youngest son of its founder, Zhu Quanzhong. He changed his name to Zhu Zhen during his time in office. He was followed by Li Cunxu
of the Later Tang after ordering his general Haungfu Lin (皇甫麟) to kill him when Li Cunxu attacked his capital, Bianjing. His death marked the end of Later Liang Dynasty, which was to be the longest among the Five Dynasties. Despite his ten year reign being the longest of all the Five Dynasties Emperors sources on his era are relatively scarce owing to the hostility of the succeeding Later Tang which considered the Later Liang to be illegitimate.
