The 2011–12 Albanian Superliga is the 73rd season of top-tier football in Albania
and the fourteenth season under the name Kategoria superiore. The season began on 10 September 2011 and end in May 2012. The defending champions is Skënderbeu
, who won their second Albanian league championship last season.
The size of the league was expanded from twelve to fourteen teams this season.

Finally, two more spots in this competition were available via a promotion-relegation playoff between the 9th and 10th place finishers of last season's Superliga, Shkumbini Peqin and Dinamo Tirana
, and the 5th and 6th place finishers of last season's First Division, Besëlidhja Lezhë and Adriatiku Mamurrasi
. Shkumbini Peqin defeated Adriatiku Mamurrasi 1–0 after extra time and Dinamo Tirana defeated Besëlidhja Lezhë 4–1, so both Superliga teams retained their spots in the league for this season.
