Publius Aelius Hadrianus Marullinus (c.31 - c.91), also known as Aelius Hadrianus Marullinus or Aelius Marullinus was a Spanish

. He came from a well-established, wealthy and aristocratic family who were of Praetorian rank. The mother of Marullinus is unknown and his father was a Roman Senator called Publius Aelius Hadrianus Marullinus. He was the namesake of his father, paternal grandfather and great paternal grandfather.
The paternal ancestors of Marullinus had descended from Picenum (modern Marche
and Abruzzo
, Italy
). His paternal ancestors were originally Centurion
s who participated in the Punic Wars
and were possible supporters of the Roman General Scipio Africanus
. About 205 BC, at the end of the Second Punic War

The paternal great-grandfather of Marullinus, Publius Aelius Hadrianus Marullinus was admitted into the Roman Senate
and became a Roman Senator by Octavian (Roman Emperor Augustus
) when he served as a member of the Second Triumvirate
between 43 BC–33 BC. His paternal great-grandfather was the first person in his family to enter the Roman Senate and become a Roman Senator. His paternal great grandfather came into favor with Octavian, however the circumstances leading him to be admitted into the senate is unknown. However, his paternal great, grandfather was one of the few Romans that came from the provinces that Octavian throughout his life had admitted into the Senate.
Marullinus was born and raised in the grandeur city of Italica. Through his life, Marullinus spent various amount of his time in Rome
. Marullinus married Spanish Roman noblewoman from Italica called Ulpia
who was a sister to the Roman General and Senator Marcus Ulpius Traianus
.
Ulpia and Marullinus had at least one child, a son called Publius Aelius Hadrianus Afer
, who would become a distinct soldier and politician. Hadrianus Afer would marry the Spanish Roman noble woman Domitia Paulina
and would have two children: Their children were a daughter, Aelia Domitia Paulina
(75-130) and a son, Roman Emperor Publius Aelius Hadrian
us (76-138). Marullinus was a maternal great-grandfather of Hadrian’s niece Julia Serviana Paulina
and a maternal great- great- grandfather to Julia’s son.
Marullinus had a reputation in practising Astrology
and had predicted by the stars, that his grandson would rule as Roman Emperor. He was also a paternal uncle-in-marriage to Ulpia Marciana
