Early years

Al Zimbalist was the son of Nathan Zimbalist, a New York dressmaking foreman, and Fannie Zimbalist. Al Zimbalist was one of four children and immigrated to the US in 1911. Al Zimbalist worked as a clerk in advertising, according to the 1930 US Census.

Movie career

Al Zimbalist was primarily known for B movies, science fiction, crime and horror. Al Zimbalist’s son, Donald R. Zimbalist (17 Feb 1936 - 6 Oct 2004), was a frequent collaborator.
