in 1985 and 1989.
At the 1991 World Championships, Perlov and his teammate Aleksandr Potashov
attempted to cross the goal line simultaneously, resulting in a shared gold medal, but the officials declared Potashov the winner by 0.01 second.
His personal best time is 3:37:41 h, placing him 10th in the all-time performers list (as of the end of August 2007).
