Construction of the school commenced in 1952 and was opened as a District High School in 1953 the school became a senior high school in 1963 and still caters for students in Year 8 to 12.
The inaugural Principal was Mr Reidal who managaed the school from 1953 to 1956, the next principal was Bill Walker who served from 1957 to 1959.
