Armadale is a suburb within the City of Armadale
, located on the south-eastern edge of Perth's metropolitan area. The major junction of the South Western
and Albany Highway

In 1899, Armadale School was established at the intersection of Church and Third Roads. With the construction of social housing in the 1950s, Armadale Senior High School
(1955) and John Calvin Christian College (1957) were opened. As new areas opened, new schools followed: Kingsley (1969), Neerigen Brook (1970) and Challis (1974), as well as Cecil Andrews Senior High School
(1980). In 1983, the Pioneer Village School and Dale Christian School opened. Finally, in 1987, Armadale Primary School was relocated to its current location at Carradine Road following the redevelopment of the Armadale city centre precinct — its old location is now home to Armadale Shopping City

In approximately 2000, a TAFE Centre was built in Commerce Avenue as part of the South-East Metropolitan College of TAFE; it became a fully functioning campus in 2003 when SEMC merged into Swan TAFE, and is now a campus of Polytechnic West. In 2010, the Federal Government opened a campus of the Australian Trades College specialising in carpentry and joinery, cabinet making and electrical trades.

Transperth initially committed to a three month trial The service will continue to operate from Monday to Friday with a 30-minute peak hour service, and every 60 minutes off peak.
Local residents have been proactive in their campaigning and have completed a travel survey conducted by the City, with results provided to the Minister for Transport and the Public Transport Authority.
