The school is names after Dr Cecil Rollo Paten Andrews who was an Inspector General of Schools in Western Australia from 1903 to 1912 and was Director of Education

from 1912 to 1930. Initially known as West Armadale Senior High School until the foundation principal, Howard Rintoul, had the school renamed in Andrews' honour.
