division.
middleweight Tyson Jeffries (7-6) found himself on the wrong end of a Arthur Guseinov (8-2) spinning backfist at 1:32 of the first round Friday night at M-1 Challenge 26 in Costa Mesa, Calif. It was a much needed win for the Russian fighter who was coming off back-to-back submission losses in 2010.
As the bell rang in the opening frame Guseinov immediately attempted a lightining fast spinning back kick that missed Arizmendi , but set the pace of the fight. After a brief striking exchange between the two fighters, Arizmendi shot for a takedown, and after a brief scramble Guseinov secured top position. Showing excellent posture from the guard, Guseinov rose to his feet, and Arizmendi was unable to protect his leg. Guseinov snatched the leg , fell back, and finished with a brutal rolling heel hook at the 0:50 second mark of round 1. For his efforts Guseinov was awarded submission of the night as well as the accompanying bonus.
