Austria-Croatia relations are foreign relations between Austria
and Croatia
. Until 1918, Croatia was part of Austria–Hungary. Both countries established diplomatic relations on January 15, 1992. Austria has an embassy in Zagreb
and 4 honorary consulates (in Dubrovnik

and Split
). Croatia has an embassy in Vienna
and 2 honorary consulates (in Graz

).
Both countries are full members of the Council of Europe
. There are around 131,000 people of Croatian descent
living in Austria.
Austro-Croatian relations have been close for most of modern history. Several heroes of Croatian history and culture were of Austrian origin and the country was one of the strongest in favour of recognition and aid after Slovenia and Croatia declared independence in 1991, with the mayor of Vienna and the heads of each of Austria's major parties holding a press conference in Vienna the next morning declaring their solidarity with the cause.
