History

The institute began in 1986, following the 1977 founding of the Aveda company, with about 200 students in a 9-month training program. The school was later expanded, transforming a newly renovated five-story building, complete with stages and auditoriums, into a beauty/fashion/wellness institute.

• Creative Imagery Project: Students at the Aveda Institutes in Toronto and Calgary have an opportunity to bring their artistic vision into reality providing the strategy and tools to create their own portfolio ready image. From developing an idea, to collaborating with a creative director, professional photographer, and makeup

artist, students are involved in the entire process of an editorial shoot.

• Aveda Points of Difference: Using the POD system students learn how to provide exceptional guest service, refining technical skills in service delivery, consultation, image crafting, guest care, treatment and more.

Events

Aveda Congress is Aveda’s biggest event celebrating the art and craft of hairdressing. The event brings guests and Aveda stylists from countries around the world to participate in educational and inspirational presentations .
