Prince Badr bin Abdul-Aziz (born 1933) is a senior member of the Saudi royal family
. He is a former Deputy Commander of the Saudi Arabian National Guard
(SANG). He participated in the Free Princes
movement in 1962-1964 during which time he lived in exile, mostly in Beirut
and Cairo
. He was rehabilitated by King Faisal
and named to SANG in 1968.
He is the 9th oldest surviving son of the late King Abdul-Aziz. He is not likely to become a future king of Saudi Arabia because of his lack of experience in high-level positions. He has one surviving full-brother, Abdul-Ilah
. Abdul-Ilah was born in 1935 and is an adviser to King Abdullah
.
Health concerns caused him to request that King Abdullah relieve him from service as Deputy Commander of the National Guard.
His son Fahd is the Governor of Al Jawf Province
