The village was first settled by Francois Guitard in 1799, and settlers from the Miramichi Valley

The Main attractions to this small town is the great feeling of small-town life that you get as you drive through our town, beautiful beaches, Mom and Pop's owned stores, and the feeling of leaving all of your stress behind from the busy hussle and bussle of big city life. Shawn George Noel famous for the "McRage" currently resides in Belledune. He has been quoted several times for calling Belledune, New Brunswick "Beautiful Belledune".
