History

It was first mentioned in the 13th century. In the 15th-16th century, Berkasovo was a possession of Serbian despots. http://www.srpsko-nasledje.co.rs/sr-l/1998/08/article-13.html exactly, the Duke Berkas, so it named Berkas-ovo, as "Berkases" property.there is a hill named "Danguba"-(losing days),where Otoman empire soldiers, loses days,in trying to conquer Berkases Castle. Yeah, there was one,and people know where it was, cause the church in near by village :"KUKUJEVCI" ,is build from this castle bricks. It was a long chain of people, and bricks branded from hand to hand. But no one has found entrance to dungeons with treasure ,on the place where castle was.

The church you see on picture, is the church of "Sv. Petka", a small church near village, between hills, and its nice there in the nature, cause under church is cave with fresh-cold water, which is healthy, and nice taste(not stinky one,or like that).

The Village has two more church,INSIDE town: one Orthodox, and one of Rusinian people, who are populated in that region.
So it's three church's,and a Monastery in the nex Village, and it means that village has long tradition.
