Berwyn is an 'L'

neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The adjacent stations are Bryn Mawr

, about one third of a mile to the south. Four tracks pass through the station, but there is only single island platform in the center of the tracks; Purple Line

were elevated onto an embankment between 1914 and 1922. This new station was built to a design by architect Charles P. Rawson; the date of opening is not known, but a station may have existed at Berwyn by 1917. At the time of its opening the station was named Edgewater Beach Station; the name was changed to Berwyn in the late 1950s, around about the time that Lake Shore Drive
was extended from Foster Avenue to Hollywood Avenue destroying the namesake Edgewater beach.
