. Effective from 1 January 2011, Braunwald is part of the municipality of Glarus Süd
.
It is situated on a terrace above the Linth
valley at 1256 metres (4,120.7 ft) in the Glarus Alps
.
In the 2007 federal election
the most popular party was the SPS
which received 57.9% of the vote. Most of the rest of the votes went to the SVP
with 38.2% of the vote.
