History

In the Fall of 1983 the association was ratified by a mail-in ballot, and officers were elected for the Athabasca University Tutors’ Association. The first fee was $4/month or $40/year.

In 1987 the University was forced to finally recognize the union, and they joined the Canadian Union of Educational Workers.

In 1990 the first collective bargaining agreement was reached.

In 1994 they joined the Canadian Union of Public Employees
