columnist who is best known for his role as Marcus Dent
in the British soap opera, Coronation Street
.

A Corrie spokeswoman said : "We'll be sad to see Charlie leave. The decision was a mutual one."
March 2011 saw Condou's return to Coronation Street after an absence of almost three years. It has been widely reported that Coronation Street is to have its first gay wedding when male midwife Marcus Dent ties the knot with former flame Sean Tully

Condou lives in Islington
with his Canadian
boyfriend of six years, Dr Cameron Laux and his daughter, Georgia, who spends half her time with the couple and half with her mother, actress Catherine Kanter. In an interview with the Sunday Mirror
, Condou revealed that Georgia Mae was conceived through IVF treatment, following Kanter's 40th birthday and relationship breakup. He now writes a popular column for the Guardian on the subject of same-sex parenting
