Chinguacousy Secondary School is one of the major highschools in the Bramalea area. Since 2000, the school's enrollment has expanded dramatically with the development of the surrounding area. Chinguacousy was considered a holding school until the newer school Sandalwood Heights Secondary School
in the Castlemore area was founded in 2007.
The school's hours are 8:00 am – 2:34 pm. The school runs a schedule based on five periods of one hour and fifteen minutes in length.
It is well known for their school sports teams and athletic programs having won a number of OFSAA championships; wrestling
(1991, 1992, 1993, 1995), curling
(1996, 1998), and rugby
(1982). More recently Chinguacousy became competitive in basketball and has won several titles since 2000. Additionally, Chinguacousy won the Canada First National Robotics Championship in 1998, while teamed with Mayfield Secondary School
and Spar Aerospace

Each week, this team of student volunteers helps provide more than 300 breakfasts to their schoolmates. Each day between 7 and 10 a.m., about 60 students have access to a nutritious and fresh breakfast consisting of bagels, cheese spreads, juices, cereals, milk, cereal bars for 50 cents. The breakfast program volunteers must maintain an excellent academic average to participate.
