Christian Henrik Arendrup

Christian Henrik Arendrup (March 25, 1837–1913) was Governor-General
of The Danish West Indies, from 1881 to 1893. Arendrup was born in Frederikshavn
as the son of Christian Rasmus Arendrup, councillor
of Fyens Stift
, and Nanna Marie Henne, the daughter of a marine Commander
.
In 1856, Arendrup graduated from Sorø Akademi and the following year, he started at the Royal Military Academy where he graduated as Engineering Second Lieutenant

in 1861 to join preparations for the impending war with Germany
.
Among his accomplishments during the war were helping the defense of Dybbøl
and Als. Arendrup was named Knight of Dannebrog
and promoted to premier lieutenant
for his achievements.
When sea mines started to be used abroad, Arendrup was installed as assistant to Major C. F. N. Schrøders work on the Danish mine command.
On April 1, 1881, Arendrup was pronounced Governor of the Danish West Indies.
Arendrup was married to Almira Kjellerup, the daughter of a former councillor in the Danish West Indies.
