Cindy started lifting weights in 2002. Her first contest was the Nova Scotia Provincial Championship in April, 2003, where she placed second in the lightweight division. She won the junior class at the 2004 Canadian Nationals, and was the Nova Scotia overall champion in 2005. In 2006, she placed second in the middleweight class at the Canadian Nationals. She placed second at the Nationals again in 2007, but was awarded an IFBB
