He has served as Chief of Staff
of 1st Mechanised Brigade from 1993 to 1996, and then as Chief of Staff
of 3rd (UK) Division, and he subsequently commanded 20th Armoured Brigade during tours of duty in Kosovo
(2001/02) and Iraq
(2003/04). He was Commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst from 2007 to 2009 when he became Military Secretary.
He is Colonel Commandant
of the Corps of Army Music
