, told Entertainment Weekly that the bride's initial identity was to be Katherine and that Susan was the one who was going to have a nervous breakdown, until viewers informed him that they would rather see Susan and Mike reconcile. Cherry explained: "I originally was going to have Mike marry Katherine, but as I went out into the world on vacation and just started talking to people they were so determined that Mike and Susan should get together; they were so insistent on it. So I started to think, 'What if I went that way?' The fans demanded it in a voice so loud I was kind of scared to go against them". Cherry also hinted that the couple's marriage "plays better for this season's mystery". Marc Cherry revealed that the sixth season mystery will pay homage to a classic Dallas

However, Cherry said that none of the main characters will be killed in the crash. "I'd love to kill somebody 'cause that's just what I do," he joked. Tom goes to work for Carlos until Lynette has the baby. Tom initially tells Carlos that he will be taking over for Lynette permanently, which leads to a bad fight between the two of them. After this time, Lynette and Tom continue to fight a lot, prompting Tom to see a therapist, played by Jane Leeves

After the crash, Karl is revealed to have died in surgery from his wounds from the crash. Orson had suffered damage to his spine in the accident and may never walk again. Bree then feels remorse for the pain she put Orson through with the divorce and wonders how she could ever make things right with him again. Bree does her best to assist Orson, but Orson is furious with Bree and makes her life a living hell. He refuses to wash and Bree resorts to hosing him off in the yard, at which point he confesses he is upset that he has lost his independence and for the rest of his life must ask for help. Bree apologizes. Orson later considers suicide.
Bree finds herself at odds once again with her son, Andrew, who suspects her new employee, Sam Page (who claims to be Rex's illegitimate son), may be plotting against her.
In "We All Deserve to Die
", Sam plots to make Bree fire Andrew, which she later does, but after she reveals to him that since she has a love-and-hate relationship with her son, it's most likely that Andrew would return. After, her dinner is sabotaged and when she tells it to Orson he said that it couldn't be Andrew because it seems something well planned, and Bree begins to suspects of Sam's true intentions.

When John Rowland returns, this causes problems with Gabrielle and Carlos. He thinks that she still wants to look nice for her ex-lover. When Gaby shows up at John's restaurant, (where Carlos is having his business dinner) she doesn't put any effort into her look. She tells Carlos that she has stood by him for 11 years. She stayed with him when he was poor, blind and when he "knocked her up twice." When Ana begins to fall for John, Gaby intervenes and tells John to stay away. He then tells her he was only flirting with Ana to see if she still had feelings for him. He then asks her to run off with him and kisses Gaby just as Ana walks in. She confesses her past affair with John to Ana, and the two finally mend fences as Gaby declares her love for Carlos. Gaby then answers John by sending a photo strip of them together, torn right down the middle.
When Gabrielle finds out Lynette is pregnant, she is angered her friend kept this secret rather than risk her job. She does try to make peace but when Lynette sues Carlos, she angrily rejects their friendship. In "Boom Crunch

In "You Gotta Get a Gimmick
" Gabrielle told Carlos she didn't want to be reminded of her Mexican heritage - because of how poor she was, not wanting her girls to know she lived like that. Carlos told her they should know where their mother came from and the sacrifice her father made, to which Gabrielle agrees.
Gaby got involved in the Bolen's secret when she overhears Angie and Nick discussing their cover. Later, in "Chromolume No. 7
, when Angie and Gaby traveled to New York, Gaby was treated badly by her old co-workers, super-models Heidi Klum
and Paulina Porizkova
, she realizes that she married Carlos because her career was on the verge of failure. While returning to Fairview, Angie reveals to Gaby that Patrick Logan, the "very bad guy" she's been running away from, is actually Danny's father.
In "We All Deserve to Die

Gaby saves the Bolen family and is the one to say goodbye to them when they are leaving for Atlanta (and Danny New York). Bree finally tells Gaby about the hit and run accident that happened 10 years before.
", Katherine stabs herself and blames it on Mike. Katherine had been lying to her daughter, Dylan, about her life with Mike, telling her about the presents Mike had given her and the nice things that he had done. She had a complete breakdown shortly after Dylan confronted her about her lies, which she believed to be true. Katherine spent some time in a mental hospital, where she withdrew from the other Housewives as she could never believe that they could forgive her for the awful things she had done. But in the episode "How About a Friendly Shrink?
", Karen, Bree, Lynette, Gaby, and Susan let her know they have forgiven her for her actions, and convince her to return to Wisteria Lane.
Katherine finds a new roommate and friend in Robin Gallagher, the stripper Susan's helping, played by Julie Benz
. They become fast friends, and Robin soon reveals to Katherine that she is a lesbian and kisses her. This confuses Katherine, who then starts having sexual dreams about Robin. These confusing thoughts prompt Katherine to ask Robin to move out, but she soon has a change of heart, and the two end up sleeping together. Katherine begins to question her feelings for Robin and calls things off, but Robin tells Katherine that they have a connection which Katherine doesn't argue with. Katherine comes out of the closet when she accidentally reveals in an argument with Robin at a party held for Mrs. McCluskey in front of the neighborhood. Upon Mrs. McCluskey's advice, Katherine and Robin leave Wisteria Lane for a while so that Katherine can avoid the gossip and work on her relationship with Robin. This is the last episode of this season to feature Katherine Mayfair since it's unknown if Dana Delany
would return to the show due to the fact that her new show, "Body of Proof", was picked up by ABC. It's speculated that she might return as a guest star in the show's future seasons.

personality to get what she wants and keep secrets hidden, especially toward Katherine whose gunshot wound had the ability to out the true identities of the family. It has been revealed that Nick had an affair with Julie Mayer. But the question is; what are they hiding and what are their true intentions for moving onto the lane? It was revealed that Patrick Logan, not Nick Bolen, is Danny's biological father in the episode "Chromolume No. 7
". Patrick discovers that Nick is going out for a walk, and then he ran over Nick with his car. Fearing what he may do next, Angie sends Danny away. Patrick breaks in Angie's house and holds her as a hostage in her own house and forces her to build him a bomb. Desperate, she secretly relies in Gaby for help, and reveals that Danny is being held as a hostage as well. Gaby takes Nick away from the hospital to save Angie. In a very fast and smart way, Angie discovers where the bomb is and switches places, tricking Patrick to be murdered with the bomb she built. She and Nick decide to go to Atlanta, since they're still running away from police, and decide to leave Danny in New York.
" and Emily, a waitress in the eighth episode of season 6 "The Coffee Cup
". Luckily Julie survived. She was in a coma for several days before waking up. However, Emily wasn't so lucky. Emily didn't survive her encounter with the strangler and died minutes after she was strangled. In the ninth episode of season 6 "Would I Think of Suicide?
", it's shown how everyone is gathered at the scene of the crime at "The Coffee Shop" where Emily was killed, then a mystery guy, whose face is not shown, is seen walking and unwrapping a chewing gum and throwing the chewing gum wrapper on the floor, as this scene plays out, Mary Alice narrates: "Yes, everyone in Fairview now knew a killer was walking among them, and they would soon learn he wasn't finished", confirming that the killer is a male. The killer was revealed to viewers in the nineteenth episode of season 6 "We All Deserve to Die
" to be Eddie, a friend of Danny Bolen, who worked at "The Coffee Cup" alongside Emily. Also, in that episode, two more women were murdered by Eddie, a young woman and Preston's fiancee Irina. The twentieth episode of season 6 "Epiphany
" entirely revolves around Eddie and how he's been living among the women of Wisteria Lane. It also features him killing his mother and another unknown woman. Lynette finds out the truth too late at the end of the episode "The Ballad of Booth
", and Eddie holds her hostage. In the season finale, her water breaks and he must deliver her child. He saves Lynette's daughter after the cord is wrapped around her neck. Eddie at first plans to leave, but then comes back crying and agrees to turn himself into the police, asking Lynette to call the police for him. Lynette allows him to hold her daughter while she calls for him.
The executive producer of Desperate Housewives, Bob Daily
, said that this season's two mysteries could be linked. He explained that further clues about the strangler plot and the Bolens' family secret will be revealed throughout the season: "We have two mysteries going on right now, which is a little different for us, we have the Bolen family that has moved in, Drea De Matteo and Jeffrey Nordling, and something they seem to be running from. We also have the mystery of the person who has strangled a couple young women in Fairview. Those two mysteries may or may not be linked to each other. As we're heading into the second half of the season, we're looking to resolving and giving more clues in both of those storylines".
The season averaged 431,975 viewers.
