Overview
Dokolo District was established by the Ugandan Parliament in 2005. It became operational on 1st July, 2006. Prior to that, Dokolo District was part of Lira District. Together with Lira DistrictLira District

The 2002 national census estimated the population of the district at approximately 131,000. The district population is growing at an estimated annual rate of 3%.
