His younger brother Iñigo
, often referred to as Larrainzar II, was also a footballer, and both played at CA Osasuna

's youth ranks, Larrainzar amassed 11 first team matches from 1988–90. In his third season, he helped with 14 matches and one goal to help the Navarre
