History

The bible college was first established as a bible school in 1940 in Stouffville, Ontario by Ward M Shantz. In 1943 the bible school was moved by Reverend Issac Brubacher to the Gormley Missionary Church in Gormley, Ontario

Mission

Emmanuel Bible College provides Bible-based post-secondary education equipping women and men to think, live, serve and lead as mature Christians in the Church and in the world.

Campus

The campus is composed of a number of buildings:
  • Ward Shantz Chapel - named for founder of the College
  • Ellis Lageer Administration Building
  • Emmanuel Campus Centre
  • J.H. Sherk Education Centre - named for Rev. J. Harold Sherk (d. 1974), former member of the College's faculty
  • Edna Pridham Memorial Library - missionary
  • Residences: Warder Hall, Lehman Hall, and Wideman Hall


Ward Shantz Chapel is where chapel services are held four time weekly. The main administration building was constructed when the college moved from its former location on Ahrens Street in Kitchener to where it is presently located. The library was built in the 1980s in memory of Edna Pridham, who died while she was serving in Nigeria.

Residence

The college has three residence buildings with space for 81 students who are accepted on a first come first serve basis. 40 spaces are reserved for first year students. Fees are: Double Room - $1367/semester, Single Room - $1587/semester (subject to availability), Res Associate Fee - $35/year - used for leadership development and student programming.

Future building plans

EBC is currently involved in a 15-year plan for new facilities. The first building on the agenda opened in September, 2007. It houses new offices and classrooms with better technology.

Educational offerings (programs)

EBC is a Bible College with the distinction of offering both Degree and Diploma programs focusing on a variety of faith and ministry disciplines. These programs include a four year Bachelor of Theology program (BTh) as well as a three-year Bachelor of Religious Education (BRE). These programs offer a variety of major choices, as well as double-major options. As well, the school offers a variety of short-term diploma and certificates, such as the one year MountainTop program and the new Expedition program. The ministry training programs are a blend of: Bible and Theology courses (a major); General Studies; Professional courses (1-2 areas of ministry); Field Education, Internships, and Co-ops.

Distance education
Distance Education courses are available to anyone interested in pursuing educational opportunities at EBC. For some students, DE provides a chance to begin a Bible college education either as an occasional student or to enter a program. For others, DE courses supplement the in-class offerings, providing flexibility in scheduling. Students in any certificate, diploma or degree program at EBC may take up to half of their courses by DE.
