, Ms. Fauzia Yasmin (popularly known as Fauzia Khan) was one of the most popular vocal artists of the then East Pakistan during the 1960s. Her father Mr. Lutfar Rahman belonged to former Provincial Civil Service of British India and her mother Begum Mouluda Khatun comes of an aristocratic family of Murshidabad, who also was a vocal artiste taking music lessons from eminent musician Ustaad Kader Baksh.

Musical career

Fauzia Yasmin started her music lesson with the inspiration of her mother. She took music lessons from the distinguished musicians Ustaad Yousuf Khan Qureshi, and Ustaad Mohammad Fazlul Huq. She became a vocal artiste of the then Radio Pakistan in 1960. She took part in National Television programs since its inception in 1965. She used to perform Modern Bengali songs, Nazrul Sangeet, Folk and Rhyme songs along with Urdu Geet and Ghazals. She was also a playback singer and rendered voice in a number of films. She has also discs with popular songs. She participated in musical conferences and soirees both home and abroad. She visited a number of countries including Pakistan, England, and Australia, and took part in music programs. She was accorded with many prestigious awards.

Fauzia Yasmin took her degree in Master of Arts (M.A.) in Bangla from the University of Dhaka
