Nilufar Yasmin is a Bangladesh
i singer. She was born on February 13, 1948 at 130/A Park Street, Kolkata
. Her father, Lutfar Rahman, belonged to former Provincial Civil Service of British India and her mother Begum Mouluda Khatun comes of an aristocratic family of Murshidabad, who also was a vocal artiste taking music lessons from eminent musician Ustaad Kader Baksh. She was the fourth of five famous 'Yasmin' sisters in the Bangladesh Music World. The elder sisters are Farida Yasmin, Fauzia Yasmin

(posthumously), one of the highest civilian awards by the Government of Bangladesh, in 2004, for her contribution in Bangladesh Music. She received BaChSaS (Bangladesh Cholochchitro Sangbadik Society or Bangladesh Film Journalists Association) and National Film Award for her song "Eto Shukh Shoibo Kemon Kore" in the movie Shuvoda. She also received another BaChSaS award in 1975 for her playback in the movie Shujon Shokhi.
As a recognition to her contribution, the Library of the Natyokala Department in Dhaka University is named as ‘Nilufar Yasmin Memorial Library’ in 2006.
