The Flag Day was created by the law Nº 12.361, on June 8, 1938. Initially, it was a celebration held in a fixed day, but the law Nº 24.445 modified it to be celebrated on the third Monday of the month. This law also modified in a similar manner the August 17 celebration, which commemorates the death of José de San Martín
