Forty foot echo's song 'Drift' was featured on One tree hill, season 1 episode 1 during the opening sequences.
Shortly after the conclusion of their first tour, a complicated series of events caused the band to become estranged from Hollywood Records, which eventually led to a different line-up for their second album
. Only Murray Yates remained on board, and was the one who reformed the band with the help of Shaun McDowell.
"Brand New Day", the band's most successful song
from their debut album, was featured on the soundtrack
of the 2003 version of Freaky Friday
which earned the band a Canadian gold record. The song "Drift" was used in the feature film The Prince and Me in 2004. They released their second album (titled "Aftershock") in Autumn 2006, on their new record label, Echoman Music. Currently, there is no date specified for a U.S.
release. The song "Closer" was the first single off the album, which was released across Canada
on November 28, 2006. The video for the single was completed shortly afterwards, and began airing on MuchMusic
at the start of October of the same year.
Murray Yates is also a member of a side project band, Caught Crimson, along with former Forty Foot Echo member Rob Kurzretier and singer-songwriter Adrianne Leon
