. He lost the two way contest by only eight votes losing to Liberal candidate Louis Roberts. That election result was the closest in the province that year.

Stanley would run again in the 1913 Alberta general election

. Roberts decided not to defend his seat, the race for the open district was still hotly contested with Stanley winning by only 58 votes to pickup the seat for the provincial Conservatives.

Stanley would run for a second term in the 1917 Alberta general election

. He fought another two way battle, this time against Liberal candidate D.F. Riley. The race was hotly contested with Stanley only winning by 38 votes.

Stanley retired from the Assembly at dissolution in 1921.
