Global Village Construction Set
Encyclopedia
Global Village Construction Set (GVCS) is a project created in 2004 by Marcin Jakubowski built around a list 50 industrial machines that can be built by individuals to create and sustain a small technologically advanced farming and manufacturing community with modern comforts. Those machines include, bulldozers, concrete mixers, laser cutters, and vehicles such as cars, trucks and tractors. The project has published schematics
, overview, designs, tutorial videos, manuals, and budgets, free of cost. Because of this, the cost of producing these self-made machines can be as little as eight times cheaper than buying them commercially. The Global Village Construction Set is the main project of Open source ecology
.
fundraising campaign was started in order to collect 40,000 USD for project expenses and the construction of a training facility.
