Initially, the city developed extremely rapidly but due to political and economic instability, the development slowed down appreciably. However, it has started to grow again, though at a more moderate pace.

Demographics

The demographics of Greater Noida, mainly consists of students, corporates and labour class workers. Students are mostly temporary residents who come mostly from other parts of Uttar Pradesh, but in some cases from far away places of India, and abroad. This is owing to the large number of colleges in this region.

A majority of the population of Greater Noida consists of Gurjars, who were originally people belonging to very rich community of Gurjar  Most of them farmers formerly, But largely due to the large amount of compensation they received when their land was acquired by government for industrial and development projects, the gurjars suddenly gained wealth and are matching up their lifestyle much higher than that of people in Noida and Delhi.

The Gurjars are very famous in that region for being generosity, and the Bhati, Khari & Naagar Community especially has great power in Greater Noida. Gurjars have their strong hold in the region, in different fields like politics and business etc.
