The song did receive minimal airplay on R&B and Hip-Hop stations, but was never officially released, as "Stay Down" was chosen as the third single over "Hurt Again". However, as news circulated around the media "Stay Down" was chosen as the official third single. Between the loss of momentum from the album's first and second single and lack of promotion for the single, "Stay Down" did not chart on the Billboard Hot 100 chart; it peaked at #34 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart.
