Harold James was a Democratic
member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives
, representing the 186th District from 1989 until 2008. He was defeated in the 2008 primary by Kenyatta Johnson.
Upon his retirement, he was the Chairman of the Gaming Oversight Committee. This committee was formed when the 2007 legislation session began. Representative James was the first chairman of the committee.
Before being elected to the House of Representatives, James served as a police officer in the City of Philadelphia.
