in Barcelona, Spain, athletes from the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the Republic of Macedonia
competed as Independent Olympic Participants. Macedonian athletes could not appear under their own flag because their NOC had not been formed. The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro
