Arwady earned his Bachelor of Music
(B.M.) and Master of Music
(M.M.) degrees in music composition, at Central Michigan University
(CMU). He studied under Dr. David Gillingham
, Dr. José-Luis Maúrtua, and had master lessons with Daniel McCarthy, Bruce Frazier, Colin Mawby
, and Augusta Read Thomas
. He has also studied conducting with Professor John E. Williamson, director of bands at CMU, and with Dr. Carlton Woods, orchestral conducting faculty at CMU and conductor of the Midland Symphony Orchestra.
Arwady has composed works for instrumental, vocal, and percussion ensembles, as well as music for film. In 2009, he won Christopher Coppola's PAH award in Motown for "best original score." His works have been performed and/or recorded by the CMU Symphonic Wind Ensemble, CMU Symphony Band, Taft Road Wind Ensemble, Algonac High School Symphonic Band, CMU Symphony Orchestra, CMU Trombone Choir, Bowling Green State University Trombone Choir, University of North Texas Trombone Choir, and other CMU and Algonac Community ensembles.
He has conducted each of his premiers, and guest conducted the CMU Symphony Band, CMU University Band, Algonac High School Symphonic Band, and the CMU Symphony Orchestra. Arwady remains active as composer, conductor, and orchestrator.
