Services

For operational purposes the Jōban Line is typically split into three parts: Ueno — Toride, with both local and rapid services; Ueno — Iwaki, with suburban and intercity service beyond Tokyo; and Iwaki — Sendai. This is because there are very few trains that go beyond Iwaki from either direction. The exceptions are: selected Super Hitachi
