on June 16, 2009.
In July 2009 he signed a two year contract for HNK Rijeka in the Croatian Prva Liga. Smith made his debut the same month in Rijeka's match with Luxembourg side FC Differdange 03

and Johann Smith agreed on 23 March 2010 about a one-year contract. On 25 May Kalmar FF terminated their contract with Smith as he did not live up to expectations of the club, following a clause in the contract Kalmar FF decided to end his contract with the club ahead of time.
Smith is currently in talks with Rijnsburgse Boys
