According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 57,147 people in 11,259 households.Vast natural resources can be found in the southern part of the Municipality such as wide stretch of Mangrooves. Milkfish and Tilapia were also breed as well as Copra is the primary source of income of the people. White, brown and black sand beaches also composed the wide longs stretch of the province. Abundant Marine life is the primary attraction of the Municipality.
Jose Abad Santos was formerly known as Trinidad. It acquired its current name in 1954.
