Origins
The name of the village literally means "red", although old maps show the village as called "Krasnyano", meaning rich or abundant in the Russian "old believers" dialect, in reference to fish stocks nearby is a small settlement, located on the shores of Lake KrasnoyeLake Krasnoye (Chukotka)

Recent history
On September 10, 2010, a law was passed abolishing Krasneno at municipal level.Law #41-OZ, Article 1 Krasneno as an entity continues to exist, but it is no longer a rural locailty, this law stripped it of Selo status, it is simply an inhabited locailty in the inter settlement territory of Anadyrsky municipal district.
