Description

Krieke is what the Dutch describe as a "spinnenkopmolen". It is a hollow post mill with a single storey square roundhouse. The roundhouse is boarded with sheet material and the body of the mill is covered with weatherboards. These are horizontal on the roof and vertical on the body. The mill is winded by a winch. The four Common sails had a span of 15 metre. The sails had the greatest span of any on a spinnenkopmolen in Friesland. They were carried in a cast iron windshaft. The mill formerly drove an Archimedes screw.
