Over the years Lauren has become a thorn in the side of several of her romantic rivals, including cosmetics heiress turned author Traci Abbott and attorney Christine Blair
. However, a significant portion of Lauren's history on both series revolves around her long-running conflict with Sheila Carter
, a mentally unbalanced former nurse who has attempted to kill her on multiple occasions.
, but instead the producers created the character of Lauren just for her, and she didn't even have to audition for it. Bregman thought the role would be brief, but after six months the producers offered her a contract and she accepted.
On The Young and the Restless
, Bregman first appeared as Lauren on contract from 1983 to 1995, returning briefly from June 15 to 26, 2000. In 2001, Bregman was said to be guest starring only for a brief period over the summer, but decided to stay on recurring status. She returned on August 24, 2001.
On The Bold and the Beautiful
, Bregman first made crossover appearances from 1992 to 1994 before joining the show on contract in 1995. Her last airdate as Lauren was on August 16, 1999. She made several guest appearances on the show later: on July 5, 2002, from May 17 to 20, 2004, and on January 19 and 22, 2007.
Marriages to Paul & Scott, and Life in Los Angeles
Lauren Fenmore was a single child raised by her father Neil Fenmore (James Storm) after her parents had a divorce. During her teen years, Lauren was a wild card, singing along with Danny Romalotti

) and Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland
), who was her rival for many years to come. Lauren almost always managed to get the upper hand by scheming against a vulnerable Traci, only to have her schemes backfire in the end. Lauren thought she found a perfect man in Paul Williams (Doug Davidson
), whom she ended up getting married to, and their happiness couldn't be touched by constant interfering by Paul's mother Mary (Carolyn Conwell
).
Lauren's marriage to Paul ended when a stalker named Shawn Garrett went after her and made it seem like Lauren was cheating on Paul. Lauren learned she was pregnant, only to lose her baby when Shawn buried her in a grave. Paul and his colleague Andy Richards (Steven Ford
) rescued Lauren and learned that she lost their child. However, the couple reunited for a short time, until Lauren sent a nude photo of Paul to a magazine.
Lauren's father died and she was left as the owner of Fenmore Department stores.
Lauren fell in love with Dr. Scott Grainger (Peter Barton) and they got married. A nurse named Sheila Carter
(Kimberlin Brown
) fell for Lauren's husband and plotted to steal him away from Lauren. Sheila drugged Scott and made love to him, ending up pregnant at the same that Lauren learned she was also pregnant. After a few months, Scott learned that Sheila was carrying his child so he left Lauren. Sheila lost her child, bought a baby on the black market and switched it with Lauren's. Lauren was crushed when the baby she thought was hers had died. Sheila's mother Molly (Marilyn Alex) found out about the baby switch but suffered a stroke after which Sheila had her institutionalized. Lauren eventually learned the truth from Molly.
Sheila attempted to murder Lauren but accidentally set fire to the cabin they were in. Lauren and Molly made it out at time, but Sheila apparently didn't and she was presumed dead. Scott and Lauren happily reunited and started living a normal life with their child. Lauren found out that Sheila was in Los Angeles getting married to Eric Forrester
(John McCook
), and wondered if she should talk to him about Sheila's past. Scott became ill from a mystery illness and knew he didn't have much time to live. He made Lauren promise to try to work things out with Sheila, who was finally normal again. Lauren decided to leave Genoa City for Los Angeles.
In L.A., Lauren started working for Sally Spectra

) after Eric refused to hire her at Forrester Creations. Lauren had a number of relationships, including a brief flirtation with Ridge Forrester

). Lauren began a relationship with Eric which was constantly tested by his former wife Stephanie Douglas Forrester

), Lauren's friend. Lauren broke up with Eric to make room for Eric and Stephanie, but when they were about to be remarried, Sally exposed Lauren's affair with Eric. Eric and Lauren started dating again, but their relationship ended after a while.
Lauren briefly visited Genoa City various times, but returned for good in 2001, when she started a partnership with Jabot. While leading a successful boutique, Lauren had a lot to deal with in her personal life too. She learned that Isabella Braña Williams
(Eva Longoria
) was carrying Paul's child, but decided not to say anything after Isabella had asked her to. Lauren reunited with Paul for a brief period before Paul found out that Isabella was carrying his child, and for a brief time later when Isabella was carted off to an asylum and Paul wasn't able to work things out with Christine Blair
(Lauralee Bell
), his ex wife.

) got obsessed with Lauren and was overjoyed when she decided to go to prom with him, only to learn later that Lauren was trying to get him to confess to the crimes he had committed. Kevin held Lauren captive, but then tried to kill himself only to be talked out of it by his half brother Michael Baldwin
(Christian LeBlanc
). Lauren felt sorry for Kevin and she bailed him out of jail, which led to Kevin revealing everything about himself to Lauren. Michael and Lauren got close while discussing Kevin and their problems and Michael eventually proposed.
Lauren accepted Michael's proposal and they started their marriage preparations, while Kevin and Michael worked on getting Lauren's son Scott (Blair Redford
) to Genoa City. What Lauren had not know was that Sheila was living near Scott, posing as a woman who gave him an idea for his book. Michael wanted to make sure that Lauren was safe and he took her to the asylum to see Sheila imprisoned, without realizing that it was some other woman that had plastic surgery to look like Sheila. Sheila came to Genoa City and started tormenting Lauren in a disguise. She tried to get Lauren to jump off the roof after drugging her, but was stopped by Michael. Kevin's father Tom Fisher

) got involved in Sheila's plotting and had to help her out with her next plan.
Michael and Lauren got married and left for their honeymoon on a beautiful yacht. Lauren discovered, upon reading Scotty's book, that the synopsis was completely the same as what happened to her with Sheila, as Sheila revealed herself to Lauren. Tom blew up the yacht, leaving everyone to believe that Lauren had died, while actually Tom had imprisoned both Lauren and Sheila. Tom's ex wife Gloria Abbott
(Judith Chapman
) convinced Tom to let Lauren free, but Tom was killed by Gloria's husband John Abbott

) before he could say anything. Sheila and Lauren were left alone to fight for their lives. Lauren was saved by Paul, while Sheila's whereabouts were unknown to them.
Lauren got pregnant, but was worried about the child's safety when she was said to have a risky pregnancy. She learned about Michael being involved in his mother's constant plots, but went into labor when confronting him about it. She prematurely delivered a baby boy which the couple later named Fenmore Baldwin. At the same time, Paul found Sheila in town after having plastic surgery to make her look like Phyllis Newman
(Michelle Stafford
). He held her captive so she wouldn't hurt anyone, and Lauren eventually found out and confronted Sheila when she saw her in the cage. Sheila managed to escape and kidnap Phyllis, but was murdered by Lauren who had difficulty trying to realize which woman to shoot since they both looked the same.
Since then, Lauren had been taking care of Fenmore and her business, while also having to deal with the problems caused by Michael's family, especially after his father River Baldwin (Michael Gross
) had returned into their lives. Lauren, meanwhile, apologized to Traci for all the harm she had done and they finally became friends. While taking care of her family, Lauren started having trouble with Michael's sister Eden Gerick (Vanessa Marano
) who is now living with Michael and Lauren.
In March 2010, Paul and Lauren shared a kiss at Jimmy's Bar while Lauren was being drugged. Later on, Michael discovered this, but believed her when she told him she wasn't aware of what she'd been doing.
Days later, Lauren was captured by Sheila Carter
's sister, Sarah Smythe, along with Sheila's long-lost twin children, Ryder Callahan and Daisy Sanders. Sarah held Lauren captive, and locked her in a cell with Jana, (whom Sarah had already kidnapped). Sarah then attempted take Lauren's place, as payback for killing Sheila. Micheal knew something was wrong with "Lauren", and Sarah got fed up and plotted to kill Micheal. Fenmore, Lauren and Micheal's son, also knew something was wrong with his mother, when Sarah killed a spider, something Lauren would never dare to do. Meanwhile Ryder felt guilty about kidnapping Lauren, and set her and Jana free. They were being held at an old amusement park, and Sarah caught them on the carousel, armed with a gun. Lauren managed to escape and then killed Sarah in the house of mirrors. Lauren had panic attacks regualarly and she broke many mirrors, because her reflexion reminded her of Sarah.

) is Lauren's paternal half-sister, much to Lauren's chagrin. Lauren becomes even more upset when Jill changes her last name to Fenmore.
Despite Jill's attempts to get to know Lauren & bond with her as her sister, Lauren is very much angry & not willing to be accepting of Jill as her sister, which could result in a feud, which Jill doesn't want.
Lauren's growing feud with Jill gets even worse when Jill files a lawsuit asking for a portion of the estate of her & Lauren's late father Neil Fenmore. Lauren is completely appalled by the action & makes her disgust at what Jill has done very clear to Michael despite his efforts to get both women to at least talk like civilized people. In October 2010 Daisy Carter returns pregnant with Daniel's child, which has everyone, including Jill & Lauren, shocked. On November 5, 2010 Daisy asked to go to a hospital for the paternity test which Phyllis agreed to because she wanted to know if that baby is her grandchild, but Lauren decided against it. On December 22, 2010 Jill Fenmore (Jess Walton
) came to Lauren's apartment, and they talked like normal sisters. Jill even reads to Lauren's son Fenn a story like a normal aunt would. Lauren is touched by the kind gesture. Jill & Lauren even find common ground in business, being that both women have been successful businesspeople. On June 13, 2011 Jill tells Lauren about all the crap Colin has done to her and Lily. Sarah held Lauren captive, and locked her in a cell with Jana, (whom Sarah had already kidnapped). Sarah then attempted take Lauren's place, as payback for killing Sheila. Micheal knew something was wrong with "Lauren", and Sarah got fed up and plotted to kill Micheal. Fenmore, Lauren and Micheal's son, also knew something was wrong with his mother, when Sarah killed a spider, something Lauren would never dare to do. Meanwhile Ryder felt guilty about kidnapping Lauren, and set her and Jana free. They were being held at an old amusement park, and Sarah caught them on the carousel, armed with a gun. Lauren managed to escape and then killed Sarah in the house of mirrors. Lauren had panic attacks regualarly and she broke many mirrors, because her reflexion reminded her of Sarah.

Despite Jill's attempts to get to know Lauren & bond with her as her sister, Lauren is very much angry & not willing to be accepting of Jill as her sister, which could result in a feud, which Jill doesn't want.
Lauren's growing feud with Jill gets even worse when Jill files a lawsuit asking for a portion of the estate of her & Lauren's late father Neil Fenmore. Lauren is completely appalled by the action & makes her disgust at what Jill has done very clear to Michael despite his efforts to get both women to at least talk like civilized people.
