Laurie Brown is a Canadian television
journalist
. Her parents were originally from Nova Scotia, and when Brown was in her teens, they and her sister moved back to that province. Brown stayed behind in Toronto, and would eventually embark on a career in television and radio broadcasting.
Brown currently lives in Toronto with her husband, and two teen aged children. She also has a second home in Nova Scotia.

Currently Brown hosts The Signal
on CBC Radio 2, and has been with the show since March 2007. Originally she hosted the show from Monday to Friday, but after budget cuts forced changes at the CBC, Brown took over the weekend editions of the show as well. After the debut of The Strombo Show
on Sunday evenings, The Signal now airs 6 times a week instead of 7, with Brown continuing to be the sole host of the show.
