Awards and facts
- The Tony L. Stansberry Leadership Center serves as the district's administrative offices and opened in July 2007. Funded by a 2006 no-tax-increase bond issue, the facility is named after Dr. Stansberry, who served as the R-7 School District superintendent from 1996 through 2006. The building is located adjacent to Lee's Summit North High School.
- The Lee’s Summit R-7 School District’s website was recently awarded Missouri’s top award for school websites. The website won an Award of Excellence, or first-place award, from the Missouri School Public Relations Associations Excellence In Communications Awards Program. The website received a perfect rating (30 out of 30 points) from all of the judges. It was praised for its use of graphics, ease of navigation, virtual tour, well-organized information and inviting appearance.
- The new superintendent of the district is David McGehee.
- A $32 million bond passed in April 2006 funding many upgrades and additions for the district including a new elementary school to be located at Route 150 and Horridge Road.

- One of eight districts in the state to earn the Missouri's Distinction in Performance Award, with a perfect score each year for the last five years
- Designated a Gold Medal school district by Expansion Management magazine as part of the publication's 14th annual Education Quotient issue. To be ranked in the Gold Medal category, a school district must rank in the top 16 percent of all districts nationally. This is the magazine's highest award.
- Received the "What Parents Want" Award from SchoolMatch, an independent nationwide school selection service. This award goes to just 14 percent of the nation's school districts.
- The LSR7 Technology Integration site has been listed as a favorite link by School Administrator and Classroom Connect, receiving over 12,000 hits a month from all over the world
- All three high schools offer both the International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement programs for advanced studies, as well as the state-funded A+ program for reimbursements at Missouri community colleges, vocational/technical institutions and some 4-year colleges.
- Nine R-7 seniors were named National Merit Scholarship finalists in spring 2006.
- The class of 2005 was offered $5.9 million in college scholarships for the next four years.
