in 1862 it has taken in Platessa bilineata, Platichthys umbrosus, Isopsetta isolepsis, Lepidopsetta mochigarei, Lepidopsetta bilineata, Lepidopsetta bilineata bilineata, Lepidopsetta bilineata mochigarei, Lepidopsetta bilineata umbrosa and Lepidopsetta bilineata perarcuata, but work by Orr & Matarese published in 2000 led to the reorganisation of the genus into three separate taxa
